چکیده
The Geoffroy’s bat, Myotis emarginatus, is the only species distributed in Palaearctic belonging to African clade of genus Myotis. It occurs extensively across several ecologic zones Europe, north-western Africa, and western central Asia, hence it was considered be a polytypic species. Only one subspecies reported from Europe North up four were recognised Asia. However, validity particular taxa as well systematic positions different populations remained ambiguous. Here we present revision intraspecific phylogenetic structure M. emarginatus based on combination available results molecular genetic analysis with thorough morphologic examination an extensive specimen set almost whole range its distribution. previously described geographic variability mitochondrial markers demonstrated grouping haplotypes into three main lineages that occur (1) Mediterranean Basin (including Maghreb Levant), (2) Oman south-eastern Iran, (3) northern Iran West Turkestan. comparison uncovered existence main, geographically exclusive morphotypes concerning body, skull tooth sizes, shapes: rather small bats short rostrum high braincase, occurring Africa; medium-sized long braincase Levant including Cyprus; large wide parts Middle East, Oman, eastern Afghanistan, (4) narrow rostrum, Crimea, Caucasus region, As synthesis both approaches, suggest recognise within rank – e. (Geoffroy, 1806) Mediterranean, Levant; desertorum (Dobson, 1875) southern Afghanistan; turcomanicus (Bobrinskoj, 1925) Transcaucasia,

متن کاملFirst evidence of frugivory in Myotis (Chiroptera, Vespertilionidae, Myotinae)
BACKGROUND Myotis occurs from tropical to temperate regions throughout the globe, and it is the largest bat genus with more than 100 species. Most species are insect-eaters, but a few also feed on other invertebrates and fishes; there is no confirmed evidence of a plant item in their diet. NEW INFORMATION During fieldwork in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, small seeds were retrieved from the f...

We document the first confirmed Colombian records of Myotis keaysi pilosatibialis LaVal, 1973 from various localities on the Colombian Caribbean and the Eastern Cordillera of the Colombian Andes. These records confirm geographic overlap between M. k. pilosatibialis and the nominate subspecies M. k. keaysi J. A. Allen, 1914, in northeastern Colombia, questioning the subspecific status of M. k. p...
متن کاملMolecular phylogeny and morphological revision of Myotis bats (Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) from Taiwan and adjacent China.
In taxonomic accounts, three species of Myotis have been traditionally reported to occur on the island of Taiwan: Watase's bat (M. formosus watasei Kishida), the Formosan broad-muzzled bat (M. muricola latirostris Kishida) and the Formosan mouse-eared bat (M. adversus taiwanensis Linde). The discovery in 1997 of an unknown taxon not fitting to the description of any of these species encouraged ...
